Duh-lin! It’s one of thee most exciting part of New York Fashion Week asides the clothes, its the makeup!!!! At least I get very excited hahaha! This is the time where some of the most creative and extraordinary makeup artists like Pat McGrath, Gucci Westman, Romero Jennings, and Sam Fine to name a few.
Below is what was seen at Fashion Week so far:
Richard Chai’s makeup artist James Kliardos used Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo Gel Shadow for the eyes, extending all the way to the brows in “Tough as Tuape” which is described as a gray-brown. Then he used “Barely Branded” Color Tattoo as a highlighter around the eyes and nose. Mascara was only applied at the base of the lases to make it look as a liner and add some volume. He made the model’s lips a shade nude lighter than their natural tone with a little “Color Whisper” in “Bare to Be Bold”, being descried as a creamy beige. As for the face he used the “Dream Fresh BB Cream” on all the models, including the male models stating that it works just as good on male models
because you can’t tell you’re wearing anything.
Rag & Bones
Rag & Bones makeup artist Gucci Westman, (which by the way I LOVE the way her name “Gucci” sounds, so much that I would name my baby girl like her!) had more of natural, almost bare face look with extremely bold and vibrant atomic orange. Suno’s look was was natural and dewy, fresh with more rosy cheeks and a matte berry taupe on the lips.
Honor had the subtle taupe smokey eye with the pink natural sheen on the lips. Simple and gorgeous at it’s best.
Costello Tagliapietra did an innovative thing: a pale muted lime-taupe lids, a thick brown bushy brow, peach bronzer and rosy sheen lips. The color contrast on this model’s face is amazing!
Creatures of The Wind
Creatures of The Wind makeup artist was none other than NARS sighs… Let’s have a squirrel moment with here, lol, I know of so many makeup artist that use a lot of MAC makeup only, and think that they’re the best because they use MAC. To me, it’s NARS. I love the way that it’s applied, I don’t know, truly, I think it’s just how NARS sounds. Ok, let’s get back to the topic lol!!! 🙂 James Boehmer said:
The real statement of the makeup look is the satin textured orange lip. It contrasts the color and finish of the Opalescent-textured eye, and also references the era of the artist Eugene von Bruenchehein, which was a source of inspiration for Shane and Chris* We loved the idea of translating this into the beauty look as well. *the designers
Radiant Cream Compact Foundation and Stick concealer were used to create the flawless canvas for this look. The sheer, pale green that were used on the lids was Iceland Duo Eyeshadow and they also used it as an eye liner, no mascara was used, pretty much nothing dark, which by the way, they haven’t been the only one. For this Spring 2014 they debuted their line with a punchy color in Timanfaya Satin Lip Pencil.
Makeup Artist James Kaliardos was the key makeup artist at Nicole Miller. A strong brow, shimmery light brown, an almost super diffused brun, mascara, rosy pink cheeks with a bold and daring rich melot matte lip. Just beautiful.
Prabal Gurung’s makeup artist Charlotte Tilbury took my vote for best lips! Wow! Just bold and vibrant! I love it! The makeup was the exact same message that Prabal Gurung was trying to tell us: We’re Bold.
Fans self…… Oh. My. Gosh!!!! What a rush!!!! I just love all of this. Did you ladies notice a trend here: greens, oranges, bold vibrant colors, “smokey” light eyes, and taupe in all shades.
To be continued….
