Dolls! The weekend is here! Did you feel like the week just kind of breeze by? I did, not sure yet if that was a good thing or not, but none the less, the weekend is here and that makes me happy 🙂 For today’s #ThatFace Makeup Artist is a lady that started out as a freelance makeup artist like some of us but has had the opportunity to work with some of the greatest in the industry.
This is Lottie Stannard. Her story is sort of like many of ours, she became a freelance makeup artist and self taught herself. What she had as her background is that she studied graphic design and knew how light, angles, and certain ways to manipulate anything to get the desired effect. She moved to London and that’s where her Makeup Artist career took off. With over a 10 years of experience, she’s been able to work with some of the industries labels such as Saks, BCBG, Forever 21, True Religion, and more. She also has a great celebrity clientele, and has keyed several fashions shows such as Stella McCartney, Vogue Fashion Fund, Versace, True Religion, Cynthia Rowley and many more.
She has had the opportunity to be Pat McGrath’s assistant for shows like Dior, Balenciaga, Prada, Versace, YSL, Givenchy, Dolce & Gabbana, John Galliano, Valentino and many more. It was very difficult to find a lot of information on her as she barely gives any interviews but you can definitely see some of her work.
It’s stories like her that make my passion grow and fall in love with doing makeup over and over again. Her story is one that we can all relate to, starting from not knowing anything to being on top of her craft. Many of us want to achieve this kind of success because we love this, and if it’s one thing I’ve learned while doing these segments is that these Artists just followed their gut and dreams and kept at it. She’s another perfect example of it having no formal training in makeup. Her work is inspiration alone in which many of us have probably tried to duplicate what she’s created. Ms. Lottie, thank you for giving us another reason to continue in the path that many of us are. We all have dreams of succeeding like you and with your work and story you give us that extra push to continue doing what we love. It’s Artist like you that makes us want to achieve more.
