Friday eve! How has your week been? I hope it has been great! We all know that when Fashion Week kicks off in New York we will be bombarded with so many new trends than we know what to do with them, right? But this nail trend hailing from South Korea is one that I’m more than happy to follow!

Aren’t they pretty?! This trend is the latest, prettiest, and most I need trend.  So what is it? This nail trend was developed by Eunkyung Park, owner of Unistella Salon in Seoul. The inspiration came from the abalone, a sea snail with a very pretty mother of pearl like lining in it’s shell, similar to that of an oyster.  So what did she do next? She cut pieces of cellophane and put them on top of her mani. Took one picture and uploaded onto Instagram.  Korean women went crazy over the look of it! So much so that Amorepacific, Korea’s cosmetic giant, contacted her to manufacture stickers so people could replicate the same look!

The trend is now mainstream with many other salons mimicking the trend. This is also such an easy DIY that many are doing it at home as well!

The stickers are pre-cut to fit each nail, which makes them easy to arrange and apply. Park recommends that you pack them in tight and to leave a clean perimeter around the nail. The stickers are so easy that anyone can do it: base coat, nail polish, stickers, and top coat. You’re done. Your base coat can be any color that you want since cellophane is transparent and holographic it will look amazing on any undertone you choose.

You can order your own set of stickers at GMarket (which is like an eBay in South Korea) for $2.83!!!! But beware: the site is in English and Korean, they’re sold out of #1, which I can only assume is the pink stickers, and you have to register before you can order. Good luck!

On the other hand, you can go to your closest crafts store like Hobby Lobby or Michael’s and you can purchase cellophane in clear or any color that you want for under $5.00!

Yes, I will be doing a step by step tutorial on this ASAP because even though I just did my nails today, I’ll be stopping by later today at Hobby Lobby and adding it to my freshly done mani! Make sure to check out my Instagram to see the finished results!
